The effect of social support has been investigated in numerous studies. Indeed, studies showedthat social support is associated with health in many ways. As accepted, structural and functionalsupport are distinct types of social support. The MOS Social Support Survey is an assessment toolthat includes items measuring both types of social support. The MOS Social Support Survey waslinguistically adapted to Turkish by translation and back-translation process. The study included apre-test (N = 241) and a post-test (N = 99) conditions with one-month interval. The questionnaireset included a demographic information form, the MOS Social Support Survey, U.C.L.A. LonelinessScale, Symptom Checklist 90-Revised, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, andInventory of Socially Supportive Behaviors. Factor analysis confirmed the fit of the 4-factormodel. While the internal consistency reliability of the whole scale was .96, the test-retestreliability was .73. The internal consistency reliabilities of the subscales ranged between .58 and.73. As an indicator for the divergent validity, the scale was negatively correlated with U.C.L.ALoneliness Scale (r = -.65, p < .01) and SCL-90-Revised (r = -.276, p < .01). For the convergentvalidity, the MOS Social Support Survey was correlated positively with MSPSS (r = .657, p < .01)and ISSB (r = .404, p < .01). The results of the study indicated that Turkish adaptation of the MOSSocial Support Survey has satisfactory reliability and validity values..en_US
