Özet
Askeri sosyoloji literatürü, sosyolojinin diğer alt çalışma alanları ile kıyaslandığında nispeten yeni bir mecradır. Askeri sosyoloji kuramları, genelde sosyal bilimlerde özelde sosyolojide bir araştırma nesnesi olarak incelenmeye geç bir dönemde başlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda askeri alan çoğunlukla tarih ve uluslararası ilişkiler, bununla beraber psikoloji çalışmalarına konu olmuştur. Ancak asker ve ordu kavramları sosyolojik olarak da incelenmeye açık kavramlardır. Bu bakımdan, tezin amacı, sosyolojinin askerlik mesleği ve ordu gibi kapsayıcı birimlerini ele alan güçlü teorik ve terminolojik niteliğini yansıtmak, askeri sosyolojiyi oluşturan, onun temel mahiyetini ve tematik yaklaşımlarını inşa eden kurucu tarihsel ve teorik temellere dair bir inceleme sunmaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda sosyal teorinin ve özellikle de sosyolojik bakışın klasik kuramlarının yanı sıra çağdaş sosyoloji kuramlarının asker ve ordu kavramlarını kapsayan ve açıklayan yanları ortaya konulmuştur. Bu amaçla sosyologların bu alanda istihdam edilebilecek, bu alanın daha verimli işletilmesi ve anlaşılmasına katkıda bulunabilecek önemli paydaşlardan biri olduğunun gösterilmesi de hedeflenmiştir.
Compared to other subfields of sociology, military sociology literature is a relatively new field. Military sociological theories have been studied as an object of research in social sciences in general and sociology in particular. In this context, the military field has mostly been the subject of studies in history and international relations, as well as psychology. However, the concepts of soldier and army are also open to sociological analysis. In this respect, the aim of this thesis is to reflect on the strong theoretical and terminological character of sociology as it deals with overarching units such as the military profession and the army, and to offer an examination of the founding historical and theoretical foundations that constitute military sociology and construct its basic nature and thematic approaches. To this end, the classical theories of social theory, and in particular of the sociological perspective, as well as contemporary sociological theories, have been presented in order to explain and encompass the concepts of the soldier and the army. For this purpose, it is also aimed to show that sociologists are one of the important stakeholders who can be employed in this field and contribute to the more efficient operation and understanding of this field.
