Özet
Bu tezin ana konusu, sosyoloji literatürüne önemli katkıları bulunan Erving Goffman'ın dramaturjik yaklaşımında ön plana çıkardığı performans kavramını ayrıntılı olarak incelemektir. Performans, Goffman'ın eserlerinde sıklıkla kullandığı bir kavramdır. Goffman, bireylerin etkileşimlerinde performansa fazlasıyla önem vermiştir. Tezimizin amacı, Goffman'ın performans kavramını, onun sosyolojik analizlerinde önemli bir yer tutan etkileşimlerin üzerinde durarak ve arka planlarına odaklanarak tahlil etmektir. Goffman performans kavramı ile bireylerin etkileşim sırasında birbirlerini etkilemeye yönelik çeşitli davranışlarını incelemiştir. Performans kavramı, onun sosyolojik analizlerinde esas aldığı bir kavramdır. Performans onun sosyolojisinin odağında yer alır. Goffman'ın sosyolojisinde ön plana çıkan dramaturji, benlik sunumu, etkileşim, sahne önü, sahne arkası, rol, rutin, vitrin ve çerçeveler doğrudan performans kavramıyla bağlantılıdır. Goffman'a göre günlük yaşamdaki etkileşimlerin her birinde performans sergilenmektedir. Goffman performans kavramı ile günlük yaşamdaki etkileşimleri anlamaya ve açıklamaya çalışmaktadır. Dolayısıyla etkileşimlere performans kavramı çerçevesinden bakmak, etkileşim konusunda yapılacak analizlere katkı sağlayacaktır. Tezimizde, performans kavramının Goffman için önemli olduğu, eserlerinde bu kavramı esas aldığı teorik ve metodolojik analizlerinde performans kavramına büyük bir yer verdiği iddia edilmiştir.
The main topic of this thesis is to examine in depth the concept of performance, which Erving Goffman, a notable contributor to sociological literature, emphasized in his dramaturgical approach. Performance is a concept that Goffman frequently uses in his works. The goal of our thesis is to examine Goffman's concept of performance by focusing on the interactions that play an essential role in his sociological analysis and their background. Goffman analyzed various behaviors of individuals to affect each other during interaction with the concept of performance. The notion of performance is the basis of his sociological analysis. Performance is at the center of his sociology. Dramaturgy, self-presentation, interaction, frontstage, backstage, role, routine, front and frames that stand out in the sociology of Goffman are directly related to the concept of performance. According to Goffman, performance is put on display in each of the interactions in daily life. Goffman tries to understand and explain the interactions in daily life with the concept of performance. Thus, considering interactions within the framework of the concept of performance will make a contribution to the analysis of interaction. In our thesis, it is argued that the concept of performance is important for Goffman and that he gives a great importance to the concept of performance in his theoretical and methodological analyses based on this concept in his works.
