The aim of our study is to investigate the relationship between posture and functional movement pattern, body composition and sedentary behavior in university students. PostureScreen Mobile, a smartphone application, was used to evaluate posture, and Functional Movement Screen (FMS) test kit was used to evaluate functional movement pattern. The InBody 270 Professional Body Analyzer was used to assess body composition, and the Sedentary Behavior Questionnaire was used to assess sedentary behavior. Our study included 42 (27 female, 15 male) young adults studying at university. The mean age of the individuals was 21.90 ± 1.92 years, and the mean Body Mass Index was 23.37 ± 5.04 kg/m2. Statistically significant correlations were found between posture parameters and body composition, functional movement pattern and sedentary behaviors of young adults. A moderate positive correlation was found between height and skeletal muscle weight and thoracic kyphosis angle (r=0.554 p<0.001, r=0.499 p=0.001, respectively). There was a negative weak level statistically significant correlation between FMS total score and thoracic kyphosis angle (r=-0.381 p=0.013). There was a moderately positive statistically significant correlation between the weekend sedentary behavior time and the thoracic kyphosis angle (r=0.411 p=0.007). According to the results of the study, it was observed that the thoracic kyphosis angle increased as the height of the individuals increased. It was observed that the FMS total score decreased as the thoracic kyphosis increased and the thoracic kyphosis angle increased as the weekend sedentary behavior time increased. Individuals can be informed about the importance of correct posture. Early detection of postural disorders in asymptomatic young adults can prevent postural deformities that will become permanent in later life.
