Özet

This study aims to present a general overview of the Resource Dependence Theory (RDT) literature using bibliometric analysis. I included 474 articles published in 165 journals in the Web of Science database between 1975 and 2019 in the analysis. Firstly, an overview of the 474 articles has been presented based on specific bibliometric indicators. Later, bibliometric methods such as co-word, citation, and co-citation analysis were conducted on the articles. Utilizing bibliometric methods, it allowed us to map out the evolution of the RDT literature, providing a comprehensive view of the dynamics (or structure) of the field and identifying the fundamental studies, journals, authors, sub-topics (theme) and their interconnections and relationship networks. As a result of the study, two significant findings have been reached: (i) the scope of RDT is limited to strategic options rather than the main concepts and assumptions of the theory, and (ii) RDT has been studied along with other theories or perspectives. Especially, as a result of the co-word and co-citation analysis, it was concluded that there is a strong relationship between RDT and the discipline of strategic management. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
