Özet
Aim: This research was carried out to determine the relationship between the pain experienced by patients during hemodialysis treatment and their general comfort levels. Method: This descriptive and correlational research was conducted with 96 patients on dialysis who were receiving hemodialysis treatment in a dialysis unit of a hospital. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews with the “Patient Description Form”, “Visual Analog Scale” and “Hemodialysis Comfort Scale.” Ethics committee approval and institutional permission were obtained. A significance level of p<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The study shows that the patients experienced moderate pain during hemodialysis (4.39±1.0), and the mean Hemodialysis Comfort Scale score was 65,11 ±12,84. It was determined that there was a negative and significant relationship between the patients'’ mean Visual Analog Scale pain severity score and the hemodialysis comfort scale sub-dimension physical relaxation (r=-0,269, p<0,05) and psychospiritual relaxation (r=-0,317, p<0,05). Conclusions and Recommendations: This research found that hemodialysis patients experienced moderate pain during dialysis, which decreased physical and psychospiritual comfort. It is recommended that nurses plan practices that will increase patients’ comfort level by reducing the severity of pain during dialysis. © 2024, Turk Nefroloji Diyaliz ve Transplantasyon Hemsireleri Dernegi.
